Comment on Online games by Tracy Vu

Professor Reeves was one of the guest lectures for COMM 1A when I took it and Professor Bailenson also talked about video games in his COMM 108 class as well. It’s interesting to see how there are transferable skills from one medium to the physical world. While we like to argue that new technologies are distracting, it’s pretty innovative of people to harness them to make things, like work and education, more engaging. I think evidence of the ubiquitous recognition of games as a way of fostering teamwork and collaboration has to be the explosion of e-sports as a real industry. It’s so similar to traditional sports and the team members as well as their roles plays a huge part in ensuring success.
